Intention to Treat

Intention to treat analysis of a clinical trial is where participants are analysed according to the group to which they were initially randomly allocated, regardless of whether or not they dropped out or fully complied with the treatment. This is important, because dropping out may be related to drug toxicity or other problems with the treatment being studied.
