Checklist Tools

This set of eight critical appraisal tools are designed to be used when reading research. CASP has appraisal checklists designed for use with Systematic Reviews, Randomised Controlled Trials, Cohort Studies, Case Control Studies, Economic Evaluations, Diagnostic Studies, Qualitative studies and Clinical Prediction Rule.

Interactive and Practical Training

The philosophy of CASP has always been about sharing knowledge and understanding, working in ways that are non-hierarchical, multidisciplinary and using problem-based approaches. This ensures that it is accessible and has practical day to day application.

Everyone wants good health and healthcare that is effective. But how can we know whether a claimed intervention is truly effective? Many interventions are given with the best of intentions but have later been found to be ineffective with the potential for harm and wasted resources.

Critical appraisal skills enable you to systematically assess the trustworthiness, relevance and results of published papers. The Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) has over 25 years of significant and unrivalled expertise in the delivery of training to healthcare professionals.

“I can’t tell you how much I benefited from the training I had last year. I use the systematic review and RCT papers and CASP crib sheets in my lectures and classes plus other teaching and learning resources provided during that week.”
