Number Needed to Treat (NNT)

Number needed to treat (NNT) is one measure of a treatment’s clinical effectiveness. It is the number of people you would need to treat with a specific intervention (e.g. aspirin for people having a heart attack) to see one extra occurrence of a specific outcome (e.g. prevention of death).
